Tuesday’s Word

Delicate Freakn' Flower (Freakn' Shifters, #1)Pugilism
noun
fighting with the fists

Given her desires, Francine’s suggestion that her mate could possibly be in attendance at this bloodthirsty and brutal sporting event filled her with horror. Although, what if some quirk of fate brought the shifter in question— an intellectual type who preferred discourse to pugilism— to the lacrosse match by accident, much like herself? She snorted. Fat chance.

Definition from OneLook Online Dictionary

I just finished this book, and oh my. I am in love. With a bear and a jaguar. And one feisty female wolf shifter who kicks ass and takes names and in the next breath wonders why she can’t find a nice, non-violent, human male to settle down with. This is the first book in a series by Eve Langlais, who is now on my autobuy list.

  1. Stumped me on this one, Jessi! Thank you for teaching me a new word I can use in my writing 🙂

  2. Mae Clair says:

Don’t ask me why I know this (because I can’t stand the sport) but boxers are sometimes referred to as pugilists.

Cool book title and loved the snippet! It has a strong author voice.

  3. LOL! I wondered if that series was any good. It keeps popping up into my recommended list. Guess I might need to check it out!
